A Bridge to Family Reconnection

Visa Assist Travel Solution | Reuniting with loved ones

Nothing compares to being close to your loved ones. Whether you’re celebrating big milestones, offering support, or simply enjoying everyday moments together, the Super Visa makes it possible to stay longer and visit more freely.

The Super Visa is much more than permission to enter Canada—it’s an opportunity to deepen family connections, celebrate life’s milestones, and create moments that last a lifetime.

We’re here to equip you with the guidance and resources you need to start this meaningful journey.

What Is a Super Visa?

A Super Visa allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to visit Canada for up to 5 years at a time. Unlike a regular visitor visa, the Super Visa is multi-entry and can remain valid for up to 10 years, making long-term family visits easier and more flexible. If your planned visit is 6 months or less, you should instead apply for a visitor visa.

Who Can Apply for a Super Visa?

To be eligible, applicants must have a host in Canada—their child or grandchild—who meets all of the following criteria:

1. Relationship Requirement

Your host must be your child or grandchild.

2. Status in Canada

Your host must be one of the following:

  • A Canadian citizen

  • A permanent resident of Canada

  • A registered Indian (under the Indian Act)

  • The host must provide a copy of one of the following documents for themselves (and their spouse or common-law partner, if applicable):

  • Canadian citizenship certificate or card

  • Permanent resident card or document

  • Secure Certificate of Indian Status or Certificate of Indian Status

3. Age and Residency

Your host must:

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Live in Canada at the time of application and during your visit

4. Income Requirement

The host must meet or exceed the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) for their family size.
If needed, their spouse or common-law partner may co-sign to help meet this income requirement.

5. Invitation Letter

Your host must provide a signed letter of invitation that includes:

  • A promise of financial support for the duration of your stay

  • The list of people included in the family size calculation (names and dates of birth)

Health Insurance Requirement

Super Visa applicants must show proof of valid medical insurance, which must be:

Option A: From a Canadian insurance company, or

Option B: From an insurance company outside Canada that:

  • Is authorized by the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) to provide accident and sickness insurance

  • Appears on OSFI’s public list of federally regulated financial institutions

  • Issues the policy as part of its insurance business in Canada

This insurance must cover:

  • Emergency medical care

  • Hospitalization

  • Repatriation

for at least $100,000 CAD, and must be valid for at least one year from the time of entry.

Why Choose a Super Visa?

The Super Visa offers many advantages for families:

  • Stay up to 5 years per visit

  • Multi-entry validity of up to 10 years

  • Faster processing compared to the Parent & Grandparent Program (PGP)

  • Allows extended, long-term visits with children and grandchildren
